Also remember many Credit Cards add a foreign transaction fee. Negotiate everything in Pesos. If you use a Credit Card make sure the store/Restaurant lists the bill in Pesos. For a several week stay we usually take 5,000 or more Pesos to start. Then use Bank ATM'S while there.

Has anyone been there recently? I read through this thread and some of these reviews are several years old.

Just booked for next year spring break for a week - does anyone have any recent tips/advice? It's a family trip, with grown/teenage kids. Should I rent a car? Can I just rent a car for one day from the resort? What is there to do on the property? Is it safe to venture around?

We've never stayed in Mexico before, so any information is appreciated, thanks!

This is one of our favorite Resorts. We were there for a week in May 2016 and we are returning in February 2018. You want to avoid the Back Building. On site there is a pool, warm spas, swim up Bar, Restaurant, and Bar. Once a week they have a Fiesta Night at Mama Mia's. It is not safe to swim on the Beach at the Resort. We always rent a car for our stays in Los Cabos. You can rent by the day at the Resort. But it is a lot LESS expensive to rent for the week. We normally rent from Hertz and set it up online before we go. Hertz will greet you at the Airport and drive you to their office. Most of the activities will pick you up at the Resort and return you to the Resort. MegaFoods is within walking distance but not fun to carry a bunch of groceries back. There is also a Costco near Cabo San Lucas. There is Zip lining (Cabo Adventure, etc), snorkle trips, swimming with the Dolphins, etc. We enjoy swimming with the Dolphins at the San Jose del Cabo Harbour. The snorkle boats take you to either Santa Maria or Chileno. You can also drive to these beaches. We think taking the Tour to Todos Santos and Hotel California is a waste of time and money. Swimming with the Whale Sharks in La Paz is fantastic but expensive. It is about a 2 mile walk to downtown San Jose del Cabo from the Resort. On Thursday nights they normally have an Art Walk in San Jose del Cabo. We have never felt unsafe. Mariscos El Toro Guero is a decent place to eat. Go ahead and send a PM if you have more specific questions.

This is one of my favorite WM resorts, but since there are so many higher end Cabo timeshares, available for exchange, it is our back up. If you rent a car, Todos Santos and Hotel California are worth the drive, for something different to do, but not worth a second visit.

Note: The song "Hotel California" by the Eagles is not an hotel, but about the Hollywood lifestyle, so don't visit the hotel because of the song.
