looking to one of the east coast Worldmark resorts next December

There are a few to choose from which is fantastic

I was wondering if some of you that have been there could help me decide

I really would like to skip renting a car since I drive for a living. So I would like to go somewhere that is walking distance to restaurants and activities

I really just want some R and R and escape from the Seattle winter
so looking for nice beach and or pool area to enjoy the sun

Thank you for taking the time to read

Only been to Orlando (original) and Daytona. I would recommend Daytona very highly. Nicest WM for activities that I have been to. :D

I know we all have different tastes, likes, and dislikes. Patti and I can not understand why anyone would ever travel to Florida. The weather is bad year round. They have "noseems" that can eat you a live at night. They have lizards big enough to eat your pets. Patti has a sister and BIL that live there. We have been back to see them twice but never again. They have never come to Oregon to visit us. I lived in Florida as a kid and then again as an adult. All in all Florida has no socially redeeming value. We have stayed at WM Daytona Beach. I have to admit it had a Pool Bar, large pools, and was on the Beach? But it is and will always be primarily a Wyndham Resort. We were treat like the ugly stepchildren the whole time. It was our worse Worldmark experience ever. You can walk to a few restaurants and shopping areas but without a car you can not go somewhere nice like St. Augustine.

Don't take Tom too seriously - he is just a grumpamatic. Just joking - he's one of my favorite WMO friends. I can't imagine spending a week in FL either. I drove there once over 45 years ago after resigning from my job because work was interfering with my lifestyle - can't remember if it was fun or not, but do remember that the inner city of Miami was very scary at 3 a.m.

I read my comments and tquayle's comments to Patti. She laughed and then said tell people she is not a grumpamatic but that she regularly encourages her sister and BIL to move somewhere other than Florida.

How can you go to Orlando and not spend a week? You can spend 4 days at Disney World alone! Then you got SeaWorld, Universal Studios, etc.

I prefer Marriott, but my friends loved both of the Worldmark resorts in Orlando. One family prefers WM Reunion over Marriott Grande Vista.

I am shocked a few of you don't care for Florida
I have been several times in my lifetime
Different times of year
And I love it!!!!
But I love sun and water

Actually don't plan on Orlando at all
Just some R and R at the beach
I will re look at Daytona site

I too feel like a step child with wyndham
I've been an owner since club esprit

Not go off topic, but think Cabo. 21.7 pesos to the dollar.

I also love Florida. I love going out at night in the balmy weather.

We have friends who moved to Orlando, but they don't like the theme parks ( :?: :?: :?: ) But they do like living in their penthouse condo, right downtown, near lots of restaurants and places to go for live music and concerts.

Years ago WM owners had access to WYN Destin with just a few units. Wasn't impossible to get just the prime dates. I really wanted to go but we didn't vacation in those days like we do today. I was very sad to see it go, I knew I missed my opportunity. :(

WYN adding some of these units to WM would be an addition to the club that I could support.

Might be wrong, but I think those destinations ceased to be accessible unless booked via Club Pass. So, a $99 exchange fee, credits and you might be able to get in?

Yeah, not a big fan of the Club Pass. The direct exchanges made a lot more $ sense. Not that long ago WYN made a lot more $ selling their WYN brand then WM credits, I wonder if that is still true? If not, adding some of the WYN units, like Destin, would make good financial sense.

Thanks for that insight. I now will read his posts in a whole new light. :D

FACT: We have two independent BoD members - Bob Morrison and Cecilia Cuevas. You can trust that they are independent BoD members, because WMOwners Inc. cast proxy votes for them in the 2011 election. Both of these owners do not have any current or previous financial ties to Wyndham, and meet the IRS and SEC criteria for independent board members.
