Sorry I missed your post earlier...but with the major storm that hit during Thanksgiving, I doubt you had any trouble finding a ski resort with good snow!

Oops... I missed your post as well. Yes, we did quite well for the Thanksgiving weekend. We were told that Heavenly typically opens Thanksgiving weekend (to capitolize on the crowds eager to start skiing), but usually only opens 2 or 3 lifts. Last year with the storm they opened with 11 lifts - not typical, but lucky for us! We were at Marriott's Timber Lodge, between the activities at the resort and the proximity to the lifts, it was the most fun I ever had being "snowed in".

Interesting story about Homewood that was told to me. There was a teenager that was an avid skier. One summer, sitting on the beach of Lake Tahoe, he was looking up at the mountain. Most people on the beach was facing the water, so he sort of stuck out. Near him, a lady sitting in the sand, was curious what he was doing, looking at the mountain. He told her how so much could be done with the mountain and told her about what he was dreaming.

I don't remember if the lady own the mountain, the development rights, or bought the rights after that talk, but she hired the teenager to create Homewood. Apparently, she didn't pay him much, but she gave him his dream.

I have only skied Homewood once. I don't remember the run I was coming down with fresh powder, but when I came over the top, it was an OMG moment. The view of Lake Tahoe from Homewood, in the snow, was breathtaking. Homewood wasn't a popular resort for advanced skiers, so I was on that run by myself. I guess I better go back before they ruin it.

I was getting ready to book Midway to go skiing and found Midway appears to be pretty far away from the ski resorts, especially since they normally close the small highway to and from Park City. It appears to be better to stay in Salt Lake City or exchange into the other resorts?

Any thoughts from those that have stayed at Midway or are in Utah?
