Resort Report

WorldMark Kona Closure.

In 2020, WorldMark Kona will undergo extensive repairs to the resort's plumbing as well as sprinkler systems throughout the property. While these repairs are underway, all water to the resort will shut off for long periods of time, and as a result the resort will be closed from June 1 through Oct. 31, 2020. As with any large project, the safety of our owners, guests, and associates is our top priority.

That's too bad. Really reduces options for booking. :(

Kona 1 Bedrooms make up 14% of the total Hawaii 1 Bedrooms, while the 2 bedrooms make up 20%. For total Hawaii units, it makes up <16%.

If you look at taking the impacted nights away from the total unit-nights in Hawaii, it's less than 6%. (<9% for 2 Bedroom units, <6% for 1 Bedroom units).

Kona SN units make up 39% of the available SN units.

This closure reduces the # of Resorts with SN units by 33%.

It does impact some owner considerably!!!!

Heading to WM Kehei soon, looking forward to it. Haven't been to this WM resort for 15 years or so? 8)
The nice thing about WM Kona is how convenient it is to add onto another reservation with BT or similar. At least twice I have added on a day or 2 before or after other reservations. Some others here also do the same. :D

That's how I've used Kona for the last few visits to Big Island. Add a day to front or back of reservation to match flights.

To offset the impact perhaps someone should suggest that Wyndham provide an equivalent number of nights at another Wyndham property on the Big Island...such as next door at Wyndham Kona, or just down the street at Wyndham Royal Sea Cliff. :?:

Is there a requirement that Wyndham do ANYTHING to address the loss to owners?

No. This obligation would only apply if someone had a reservation.
My understanding is that the maintenance pool isn’t limited to the resort that the inventory originates. This has been the case/interpretation of counsel for a number of years now.

The Club could also purchase credits from the Fax pool in the event there isn’t enough maintenance allocation but I don’t think that’s ever happened.

They could "reduce/eliminate" the Club Pass exchange fee to enable WM members to reserve Wyndham Kona or Seacliff....
