Pros:    Pretty nice property, a renovated timeshare with a previous owner. Indoor and outdoor pools. Rear units could be noisy as they face Hwy 40
Cons:   Not as roomy as some of the other WM properties we have stayed in.
Review: I live in Steamboat Springs...."ski town USA" home of "Champagne Powder"
If I sound like a ski bum, you are right. My husband and I retired here ten years ago. The summers are even better than the winters if you do not like winter sports. Spring and fall are nice and much less crowded and less touristy.

The nearest airport is in Hayden,Co. United Airlines is there all year and most other major airlines fly there during the ski season. The best airline rates are usually through Steamboat Central Reservations because they have an guarantee plan with the airlines. It is worth calling them and comparing prices before booking. 1-800-475-4786

Last summer the Strings in the Mountains summer concert tent was placed next to the WM property. They have concerts for all musical tastes...classical twice a week at night, family concerts and children's concerts, and a different tempo. Prices are reasonable for the caliber of music offered.

All the busses are FREE. I still would rent a car for a family to see more of the area.

There is a City Market and a Safeway nearby for groceries. Also a Wal-mart.

You can e-mail me if you have any questions about coming here.

Pros:    Excellent location. well run and the young man at the front desk was very professional and helpful.
Cons:   the garage parking is tight.
Review: I brought a group here in 6-2BR units in Sept. All were excellent. The young man at the front desk was very helpful with our hiking questions and I was particularly impressed with the way he handled a very confusing check-in. We all arrived at different times with people coming in the middle of his explanations. One of our party missed her flight and arrived at 1am and that was handled well. There is lots to do in the area and the aspens were very pretty. I'll definitely be back.

Pros:    Clean units, underground parking, professional and courteous staff
Cons:   construction, units were HOT and required AC to cool
Review: This was the first trip to Steamboat for everyone, although I had been at many of the major ski areas in CO. We stayed in a 1B condo which we had booked a year in advance. Due to construction for the expansion, the resort was a somewhat unimpressive at first glance. There was construction fence all around the office and no place to park for check-in. This construction is supposed to be complete by spring / summer 2008. However, the inside of the check-in / clubhouse was typical for WM standards. The resort has an indoor pool which was cool but very “swimable” and both an indoor and outdoor Jacuzzi. The indoor Jacuzzi was like a warm bathtub – suitable for kids, but the outdoor one was hot. We did not use the sauna or steam room. The staff was courteous and professional. The front office staff gave me the most extensive summary of the resort and area than any in my nine years at WM resorts. The activities desk gave us a two page sheet of activities for families with young kids.

Worldmark has one of the two buildings, building 2, which has limited underground parking. If you get there late, there may not be parking available and one would have to fend for one outside. We were always able to park inside, but be wary that it might be an issue. Building 2 has three floors of units and we were on the second floor in 2210. It has a view of the south overlooking US40. There was plenty of snow during our trip and the hills to the south were enjoyable to look at. The unit was warm when we checked in at 78 degrees. We turned off the heat but eventually had to open the windows and eventually turn on the AC to get the unit cool. In fact, we ran the AC daily during our week stay to keep the unit at a comfortable temperature. We never turned on the heat although it was in the single digits outside. The unit was otherwise maintained well, especially as compared to the lower quality over the last five years after the Cendant/Wyndham purchase of Trendwest, the management company. We have two kids, ages 2 and 5 and the 1BR unit was sufficient. The second bed is a sofa bed and not a Murphy so is not as comfortable. The unit had typical WM furnishings and tile in the shower as opposed to a fiberglass tub/shower combo. The décor was southwest with horseshoe coat racks and a deer on the mirror over the dining room table and a picture of a cowboy boot and saddle. There was a carved wood bear by the fireplace. The main bed was typical WM which means that it was not particularly soft and will bounce if one person gets out of bed at night.

As for Steamboat, there are many activities. We spent time skiing, went tubing at Saddleback ranch, drove to the Strawberry Park Hot Springs for a couple of hours in the water and had a Sleigh ride dinner at the Dutch Creek guest ranch. We enjoyed them all with the 2-yo son enjoying the tubing and the 5-yo daughter the Hot Springs. This was definitely a place which we would come back to visit.
