Pros:

The pool and spa area is nice, as is the lobby. |

Cons:

The resort looks very much like its past - a motel remodel. Our room opened directly into the single row of parking. There was NO little entryway/walkway in front. Kind of cheap feeling. Our room, a one bedroom, opened next to the garage bin in the back. The shared patio was little more that a small cement area right next to the dumpster. Not anywhere you would want to sit, or even bar-b-que. On the other hand, some rooms had a back door that stepped out to a small patio with a lawn, and then the pool. |

The resort is fairly centrally located, but you will do some short driving to get to the shopping and dining areas of town. The rooms had the least-inspired decor of any I have ever seen in one of our resorts. The floor was all tile in the living room, and the insides were...boring. On the other hand, it was comfortable, and the quality was up to our ususal standards. As mentioned above, our front door and back door area left a lot to be desired, and it was not listed as an undesirable location when we made our reservation. Other units seemed to have nicer entryways. Strangely, our one bedroom unit had TWO bathrooms! We had a nice time stargazing with our telescope. The air was very clear, and there was not a lot of light pollution. There are many great shops in Palm Springs, and a wide variety of good and excellent places to eat. We don't golf or gamble with are popular activies in the area, but enjoyed several hikes on the Indian reservation and the Native American museum in town. The Tramway is also really fun. You can go up just for the view and a meal, or stay all day...cross country skiing and snow play in the winter, and a fantastic gateway to high altitude wilderness in the summer. If you don't want to face driving with snow chains, getting to the snow on the tram can't be beat. As for hiking - it is one of the best places in Southern California! We were there in the Spring, and the weather was warm to hot. Exactly what you would expect in the desert! |

MY HUSBAND AND I STAYED IN JANUARY OF 2006 AND ARE GOING BACK IN JANUARY OF 2007. WE THOUGHT THE RESORT WAS FINE. THE ROOMS HAVE BEEN REMODELED AND ARE NICE AND CLEAN. THE RESORT IS RIGHT AT THE END OF THE TOWN SO THE TRAFFIC WAS NO PROBLEM. WE WENT TO THE FOLLIES, DESERT HOT SPRINGS RESORT DAY SPA, THE TRAM RIDE, LIVING DESERT. THE HOT SPRINGS WAS AN OLDER PLACE, BUT THEY HAD SOMETHING LIKE 7 MINERAL POOLS, EACH A DIFFERENT TEMP. MASSAGES, FACIALS, A RESTUARANT TO EAT AT. YOU COULD GO FOR A DAY PASS FOR $3.00 TO $5.00. Pros:

Very nice pool area and hot tub, plenty of lounge chairs, pool towels and umbrella tables, Tastefully redecorated rooms nice game room and common areas, in a nice location, close to all the attractions. Maintenance staff were quick and efficient. |

Cons:

Not all of the remodeling has been finished and so you could hear some work noise during the daytime out by the poolside. Also the main lobby and stairs area have not been updated and have awful green carpeting and haphazard rope lighting looped on the staircase. Elevator is much to small, and there were some unfriendly staff at the desk one afternoon. |

We stayed in palm springs July 23-July 29th 2006. We had a great time! I was worried because of the mixed reviews, but we loved it. The night check in concierge was helpful, efficient and very nice. We had a 2 bedroom unit ovelooking the pool and outside desert and palm trees. It was a gorgeous view. Our garbage disposal quit working the first time i turned it on and the maintenance staff had it fixed within 30 minutes. We also had a knob missing on our gas grill. Hubby went down to the front desk to get matches to light it manually but the lady at the desk told him matches are only for sale. (wasn't happy about that so we called for maintenace) Once again the maintenance staff saved the day and had it up and running and the knob replaced within an hour. the rooms are being updated and washer and dryers are being added within the units. our unit was very nice and clean. the closets had closet organizers and dresser units within them for extra storage. The lobby and staircase have not been updated yet and while the tile flooiring and furniture was fine, the green worn down carpet on the staircase and lining the hallways toward the rooms really needs to be taken out. They also ran some rope lights uo and down the staircase and it is just haphazardly placed and not professional looking at all. That really is my only complaint. The fountain out front in the parking lot was beautiful, the grounds were well maintained, the location was great and there was plenty of parking. A word of warning though, the pool is refreshing but still rather warm for a swimming pool, feels like hotsprings water and the hot tub is scaldingly hot as is the concrete. This is just because of the extreme heat in July in Palm Springs, but for 3000 points for a 2 bedroom for a week, we would do it again. We had a GREAT time, met some nice owners and still got out to do Soak City, some museums, shopping and the thursday night art/street fair. Also had drinks up at the Blue Guitar and enjoyed the live blues band. The resort is located on the north end of the main road and is within walking distance of shopping and activities. (in winter when it isn't so hot). It was 107-125 degrees for our stay and nights only cooled down to maybe 90-95, but the AC was fast and strong and we never felt any discomfort in the resort or our condo. I wouldn't think twice about returning. Of course I will want to check out Indio (i love a lazy river) but Palm Springs is really getting spruced up and was a great family property. |

Pros:

We love this place. Have been going there for about 9 yrs. Our winter vacation. Stay about 4+ weeks. Walk downtown every day, go to the College of the Desert every weekend. Street fair every Thursday, pickup flowers, fresh produce, bread, dates & raisins. The updated rooms are very nice. It was about time. Most of the staff are friendly & helpful. For us it is like going home on our vacation. Many things to do & see there. The weather that time of the year is great. Not too hot. Shopping is good. The grounds are very nice. Love the fountain out front. |

The only con we have are the beds. They say they are queen size, but in some units I wonder. Also the pad over the mattress gets all bunched up when you are sleeping, so are constantly all night trying to straighten this thing out. I now take it off the bed when we arrive. |

We were going to stay the night in Palm Springs but once we arrived we decided to go back to Indio, the place looked and smelled dated and the neighborhood was a bit too "ghetto". The floor plans are very unique and updated but the resort itself did nothing for us. |
