Pros:    Centrally located to all areas of the island. It's located about 1/2 way between the beautiful Hanalei Valley, sun lit beaches of Poipu and the magnificent Waimea Canyons. A Safeway grocery store, restaurants, shopping center are right across the street.
All units face the the ocean.
There is a concierge on site.
The staff are terrific. The most friendly I've encountered.
Cons:   One bedroom units do not have a washer and dryer, but laundry facilities are nearby on site.
The beach in front of the resort is not suitable for swimming. Swimming beaches are located within a couple of miles.

Pros:    Layout - 2 Br (upstairs) units in bldg b have great view of ocean, no ac but if trades are blowing from east no problem. Very convenient shopping and restaurants
Cons:   Washer & dryer in 1 br units only
Review: This was our first week long stay in a WM resort and we loved it. We had a car so Kapaa was an easy location to do everything else on the island. The unit (#316) was great and I would recommend getting a 2 BR for everyone if you can. Our picks for restaurants: East shore - "Coconuts", right across the street, very good. "The Shack" - a funky place, good burgers, we also used it once for lunch because they have free WI-FI, "Lemongrass grill" - went there for dessert, they had a hard time getting things right - we got a free drink and dessert because the waitress was clueless! South shore - "Roys" Poipu Bar & Grill - best meal on the island. "Shells" at the Sheraton resort also good.

Pros:    I have none to mention other than Kauai is a beautiful island and the room had a nice view.
Cons:   Everything about this resort is awful. It is filthy both inside and outside of the unit. If you are on the upper floors, you must carry all your luggage up and down the stairs...no elevators. This property is one of the oldest on the island and it looks like it! It is not what a 5 star resort is - I don't understand how they can sell this as a 5 star, because it is most diffently not. More like a motel 6 (a dirty one) with a kitchen. My family and I ended up leaving and moving next door to the new Outrigger condo facility which is a five star! Bugs everywhere, window louvers don't work, no a/c and very hot, not enough seating for 4-6 people, unit is not level - doors open and pans slide off the cook top, master is upstairs where it is even hotter and the stairs sound like they are going to break. There is not a beach that you can even walk on, it is slippery rocks. (unit 313).
