Pros:

Amazing grounds and public areas - definitely 4-star quality. Casino and restaurants within a few miles of the resort. Weather is usually pretty warm, but for some that may be more of a con than a pro. |
|
|
Cons:
|
2BDRM units a little small and narrow. Indio is not much of a tourist destination, but the resort has enough to keep you busy for a few days, especially if you like golf. |

The grounds of this resort are FANTASTIC. The resort is located right in the center of (2) former Jack Nicholson golf courses, that surround the resort. Resort amenities are way above standard, although some (i.e., deli and liquor store) are not yet open for business. The Owner's Loungs, Recreation Room and Gym are better than any I've seen at ANY other WM resort - DEFINATELY 4-Star!! The business center had (4) computer terminals w/flat screen monitors, plus a couple ports to plug in your personal lap top. There are NO WIFI connections currently available in the rooms. The 4BDRM Presidential suite is HUGE, but so are the point values to stay there - OK if you have a large family. The 1BDRM units are fairly large, and more than adequate for 2-4 people. In Juxtaposition, the 2BDRM units are comparitively small and narrow. They may be a little cramped for 5-6 people. There were no 3BDRM units open when I was there, so I don't know how they compare. |

Pros:

Big owners' lounge, nice pool, lazy river, baby pool. Easy on the eyes, and if you like golf, very convenient to golfing. |

Cons:

Units are strange. The 2-bdrm units are quite small and the only units that have fireplaces are the penthouse and presidential units. |

This resort is beautiful and has a lot of potential, however, there are some drawbacks that can't be overcome. We stayed in a 3-bdrm PH unit. The cabinets in the kitchen were so high that a 5' person could stand under open cabinet doors with no fear of hitting her head. The microwave was also very high. The weather was very cold (no complaints about the weather) but most units do not have fireplaces. A fireplace is one of the things I love about resorts and would miss it greatly if we hadn't had one. The construction was simply not up to my standards. Not only was the sound insulation between floors pretty much non-existent, but it was the same between adjacent units also. Our guest who had a room with a common wall with the neighboring unit said she thought we were in the living room talking in our unit, but then realized that we were still in our bedroom and the voices were coming from the next unit. There are 3 tubs in the PH unit and all 3 had been patched in essentially the same place. There had been no attempt to make the patch match the color (white) of the tubs. The contractor should never have accpeted those tubs. My only "complaint" about the staff is that the spa tub on our deck had a bad smell due to lack of chlorine. After that, however, they were great. Maintenance came up right away, opened the automatic chlorinating devices and turned the spa on. When we came back from shopping the problem wasn't fixed, but a single call, ever after 8:00pm, took care of it. They were up right away to add a chlorine tablet. This fixed the problem. We had a follow-up call the next morning, and they came to check on the spa later that day. The resort manager was great. He is very responsive and polite. He knows that he's doing and I expect the staff to be very good for the most part. There was two other problems with the spa and I believe them to be out of the control of the resort manager: 1) there were no steps to get into the spa; 2) the balcony railing was only about 8" above the level of the spa. If people sit on the edge of the spa (and they will, we did) there is a danger of falling over that railing to the concrete 3 stories below. I can see these problems to be fairly easily taken care of. It's a shame the builders built the buildings in such a strange and sloppy manner. The layout and lack of sound insulation is really too bad. |

Fantastic grounds! The ponds that run throughout the resort are beautiful and the pool was massive and well situated. The shaded parking was a nice bonus for those hot, sunny days and having the golf courses completely surrounding the resort added security and style to the resort. Nice exercise room, (2) basketball courts, lazy river and lighted tennis courts round out the ammenities. |

The surrounding area has lots of restaurants and other standard activities to keep you busy other than swimming or golf. Very little outdoor activities compared to other WM locations due to the desert being in all directions. Overall, we really enjoyed our 4 days. |

We went to Indio with very low expectations but we were pleasantly surprised with how nice this resort is. The rooms are top notch and the stream that runs throughout the resort is a nice touch (they turn the stream off at night). We used restaurant.com coupons to eat at a few places in Palm Springs and Palm Desert. |

I stayed in Indio from the 28th until the 30th of September. It was my Wife, 3 year old daughter and me. We stayed in a one bedroom and were on the ground floor (3103). We really lucked out and the kids play area and the pools were right outside our patio. Perfect location having out daughter with us, but may have been a little distracting if it had bee a \"romantic\" getaway LOL. A lot of kids running by our patio and playing on the equipment right outside the room. I liked the fact that the bedroom was to the front of the unit, we were in bed around 10 each night. Even though people were still having fun and being loud around the pools we hearn none of it. Also the pools close down at 11 and they must really enforce this, because one night I looked out around 11:15 and not a person in site. The unit was VREY clean and had no visible flaws. I am very picky when it comes to things like this and I was very comfortable with everything. The weather was perfect! Around 95, a little windy, but not bad. We had no problems with flys or the pools being to hot as some people complained about on the Worldmark site. We went to Albertsons, just a few minutes away to stock up on groceries and noticed a lot of options around the resort. I really think this area will be \"booming\" over the next 5 or 6 years. Over all a very happy trip....I will be back Indio!! Anthony |

Indio Resort Review – Stay from 2/06/08 through 2/16/08 There was a large group of 20 staying at the Indio Resort for a golf outing. We utilized three 3 Bedroom units and one of the 4 Bedroom Presidential Suites during this stay. The purpose of the trip was golf hence the selection of this resort. Each 3 Bedroom unit was given a “hospitality key” to the Presidential Suite for them to use. The trip was 11 days and 10 nights and included over a dozen rounds of golf in that time. General Area The saying goes “people who work in Palm Springs live in Indio”. Indio is at the opposite end of the valley from Palm Springs and is not as developed nor is it as touristy. The commute up and down the valley is quite easy along I-10 making it possible to get from one end to the other in about 45 minutes. It is a $70 cab ride from the airport to the resort. I did drive by the Palm Springs resort and came to the conclusion that if I was going to be out doing stuff all day, I wouldn’t mind the Palm Springs location as a place to lay my head. If I were to be hanging out at the resort, the Indio location would be preferred. It is an easy drive to Hwy 111 to get to Cadena’s grocery, or a few good restaurants. If you are looking for a downtown window shopping district, this is not the place for that. The Fantasy Springs Casino is nearby which offers a pretty good selection of entertainers. All in all, I am surprised at previous comments about the location of this resort. It is an ok location but then again, I love to golf. I assume the area will build up around the resort, but it may never be as “trendy” as Palm Springs. Resort Amenities and Surroundings The resort is located on the Terra Lago Golf Course just a couple of miles off of I-10. There is a guard on duty at night at the entry. It is an easy walk to the clubhouse from the resort. The resort is very large. The many buildings create an oval around center areas filled with ponds, pools, and hot tubs. The outside of the oval is pretty much surrounded by golf course holes. All of the decks seemed to look inward except for one small part of the Presidential decks which gave views of the mountains and golf course. All of the entry ways were on the outside. Even with the resort full during the weekend, it did not seem over-crowded although the swimming pools were pretty full. Staff and Check-In The staff was great at all times. I had called ahead to try and get our 4 units in the same building and the manager was very accommodating. If you had more than one unit and were placed on opposite sides of the resort, it would be a long walk in-between. There was some confusion with parking passes, but that issue was quickly cleared up. We had checked in on an off day and did not experience any wait time. The check-out on Saturday was quick as well. I was somewhat disappointed that they could not accommodate a mid-stay cleaning even on a slow weekday. There was “no room in their schedule”. I will just chalk it up to the fact that they are either still working out the staffing situation and don’t have a handle on scheduling yet, or probably even more likely, maybe they will not schedule it unless you escalate to management. Units The 3 bedroom units were on each of the first second and third floors. They seemed somewhat small in comparison to other WM resorts. They were stocked with the usual dishes, and cooking utensils. There was a TV in the Living Room and Master, but not in the queen room. There was really nothing special about these units. The first floor units could be deemed to be less desirable as there is a lot of foot traffic just off the patio as people make their way to the pools or hot tubs. This seemed to be true for many of the units I saw. The walkways did not seem to be planned very well so there were a lot of people taking “short-cuts”. The Presidential Suites are very nice. If you asked me if they were worth 2.5 times the credits as the 3 Bedroom units I would say “it depends”. If you were only sleeping in your unit and spent the entire day out and about, then it would not be worth it. If you spent a lot of time in the unit/deck/personal hot tub, or if you wanted a place to host a larger group, then it is worth it. For our purposes, having a place where 20 people could get together was great. We had all 20 people assembled on the first and last night and we all fit very comfortably. There are ample places to sit and relax in the Presidential units. The living room has plenty of comfy chairs and couches. The huge wrap around deck has many lounge chairs, a table and seating for eight, hot tub, stainless grill and personal chairs and tables outside each master suite. The kitchens are well stocked with services for 12 people. Interestingly, there are no plastic tumblers for taking to the pool area or out to the hot tub. The appliances are upgraded with a very quiet dishwasher and a stainless side by side fridge with full ice/water dispenser. The coffee maker is upgraded as well and they even added other upgrades like providing a small low end Krupps Espresso Machine. The Master Suites are quite nice with very comfy king sized beds. The blankets and linens are nicer than the standard. They did come with bathrobes to use. There is a flat screen TV in each room. The Master Bath is quite large. The huge shower is about 6’ x 10’. That was pretty amusing because the fixtures were not upgraded and the flow restricted shower head put out a wimpy stream of water that barely made it a third of the way across the shower. One thing that I must point out about this resort is the obvious lack of workmanship and attention to detail. There were many, many things noticed by people that were just not up to par. The contractors among us noticed even more areas where it was painfully obvious that corners were cut and jobs were finished in a hurry. There were really bad caulking and grout jobs, patio tables coming apart already, tiles coming up, doors that were not installed correctly, molding falling off, and I could go on and on. It is apparent that there will be higher maintenance costs to take care of an already deteriorating resort due to this. All in all, I am happy with the Worldmark Indio Resort and will probably use it again in the future. It is a nice oasis in the desert, and a nice place to hang out. I am not happy about the credits needed or the TOT, but that is another story. If you have any questions, please ask me. |

We stayed 3 nights in 8307 (Phase II) in the 4 Bdrm 4 Bath Presidential Suite and YES it was worth it!!! Our friends were quite impressed, as were we. It was especially nice for everyone to have their own bathroom even if two of them aren't directly connected to the rooms. Our balcony faced east so the morning sun was great and the shaded afternoon/evening worked out well for eating out on that huge balcony overlooking the beautiful interior grounds. (We didn't notice any flies mentioned by another owner.) STAFF was professional/friendly/helpful and we weren't even bugged about an update...only one call on our last morning. RESORT - The Phase I pools (including Lazy River) were closed due to planned renovation/repairs which we were advised of only a couple of weeks before our arrival. (The Lazy River in Las Vegas was so much fun.) If you are going to Indio to rest and relax you need not leave the resort since it is a beautiful place all on its own, surrounded by a nice green golf course with a background of desert mountains/hills. Although we did not see the Palm Springs resort I think I would rather stay at Indio and drive into Palm Springs to visit. The resort is really that nice. GOLF was great for the guys since they played early morning before the wind was bad. They played Terra Lago South one day and North the next. They said it was the most fun they have ever had in golf and that Sacramento courses didn't have anything close to it. We arrived the day the rates (including cart) went down to $50, plus they got $10 off for staying at Worldmark. Since we were only there for 3 nights they didn't check into the rates for the other 120+ courses in the area. Not a typo...120+ courses!!! WIND was terrible at night, kicking up in the afternoon. Our guest's sleep was repeatedly interrupted by the howling wind since their rooms faced west on the golf course side of the building. I asked a local if it was always this windy and she said didn't realize it was windy. (question answered) AREA was just okay for us. Unless there is a festival or something going on we really didn't see the draw to the area for another visit since we usually don't go somewhere just to relax. Locals say they move there for the weather so I guess if you are from the cold north visiting during the winter it's a great place to escape the snow. INDIO is growing rapidly with home developments and retail popping up everywhere. I'm not posting any pictures because the ones that are available are a good representation of the resort.
