Pros:

The resort at Whale Pointe, Depoe Bay, is one of my favorites! All units have a view of the ocean, perched on the rocks, right above the crashing waves! The resort staff is awesome, always there to help with anything! Lots of activities in the area to keep you busy, or.....just relax and enjoy the everchanging view from your unit. |

About the only thing I can think of, is there is no sandy beach to fly my kite on! |

I have been going to DB since 1999. Everytime I return, it is just as beautiful and relaxing and as wonderful as the first time there. So much to do there! |

Very nice resort. Big windows to watch the surf. The only bad thing about the room was, the loudness of the toilet flushing above us. The parking spaces need to be bigger. A few times we had to pull the car out of the space to use the passenger door. Noticed several other people with the same problem. The indoor/outdoor pool was wonderful. We were in a two bedroom in phase 2. It was nice to have double doors to the master bedrrom so we could listen to and watch the surf from bed. It was a nice short walk to the town and fun to sit on the sea wall and see the spray from the waves. Lot's of shops to browse for souveniers and to get goodies to snack on. |

Wow pretty much sums up our impression of Depoe Bay. We absolutely loved it there. The views are wonderful. If it was cool outside, I would just pull a chair up to the huge windows and sit with a glass of wine enjoying the ocean. We saw whales right in front of the resort within 1/2 hour of arriving. Lots to do and see in the area. Some of the views around Depoe Bay are breathtaking! I loved the main street right along the ocean. The town was small and quaint with lots of nice shops. We went on a fishing charter out of Depoe Bay and had a great time. Caught our limit of fish and also came home with 3 crabs apiece. Yum!! We stayed at Depoe Bay for 4 nights, but we could have stayed a lot longer! This was a wonderful vacation for us. |

Pros:

Location, ocean view. |
|
|
Cons:

One of the rec centers was closed for remodeling so this reduces the number of swimming pools/hot tubs to 2 instead of 3. |

We were in F-103, a two bedroom on the ground floor. Was only 5 steps out the back patio to the ocean/cliff edge. Was very nice and enjoyable to sit by the fireplace with the patio door open and listen to the ocean. This was my favorite WM resort so far (have been to 4 others). If you want some cheap columbia clothes, go the the outlet mall in Lincoln City >>> you'll be glad you did! Weather was great all week with only some minor clouds/showers. Also drove to Florence and rented dune buggies >>>very expensive. Also went to Ripley's in Newport, was worth going. Saw 3 lighthouses; Yaquina Head, Yaquina Bay, Heceta Head. All worth it. Rented wetsuits/boards in Depoe Bay but not much fun, the water is very cold and the waves aren't the best for boarding. |

Pros:

WONDERFUL view of rocky coastline with waves crashing on it. Jetted tub in master bath. Pantry cupboard by kitchen. Ocean view from Master bedroom, second bedroom and living room. Spa is situated right on the coast so you can sit in there and watch the ocean. Wonderful! |
|

Cons:
|
Have to drive to Gleneden Beach for a nice sandy beach. There were some places that showed deterioration -- particularly on the doors that faced the ocean. There was a sofa-bed rather than murphy in living room, though I must admit it was pretty comfortable for a sofa-bed. The kitchen seemed a bit small after Gleneden Beach, but was certainly adequate. The pantry off the kitchen was handy. |

We had a three-bedroom special needs unit in phase 1. It was beautiful. The master bedroom, living room, and 2nd bedroom (with queen bed) all had views of the ocean. The 3rd bedroom (with twin beds) didn't have the view, but the kids didn't notice. The teenagers loved the activities available, swimming, hot tub, pool table, tennis, ping pong, etc. Though we were only here one night, the kids made sure to take advantage of all these ammenities, and thoroughly loved their time here -- as did the adults. There are planned activities and little shops that are fun to explore. Whale watching is big in the area, though we didn't partake ourselves. The staff were very responsive to our needs. |

Pros:

Gorgeous views, wonderful sound of ocean crashing on the rocks. So many windows to allow us to take full advantage of the beautiful ocean view. |
|
|
Cons:
|
In 2 bedbroom unit, master bedroom does not have a window that opens to the outside. Since there were just 2 of us, it didn't matter that we left the bedroom doors open, but there would be no privacy with more people. |

We stayed in a 2 bedroom, 2nd floor, phase II the first night, then were moved (previously arranged) to a 3 bedroom, 3rd floor phase I, fractional unit. The phase II unit had a nice view and we could hear the ocean very well, but we were in building A (the farthest to the south) and when there were sirens going by on the road, it was VERY loud. The layout was great for 2 of us, but if we’d had another couple or children with us, it would not have been as good since we would have had to have the bedroom doors closed. We moved to the 3 bedroom unit the next day and it was beautiful. The view was fantastic! We could hardly bring ourselves to leave the unit because the view was so wonderful. (See the pictures we posted.) My only complaint about the unit layout was that the 3rd bedroom, the one with twin beds, was very small for 2 beds. You had to squeeze by the side of the bed to access the closet. While we didn’t use the bedroom, I could see that it might be inconvenient for those who would need the room. The rest of the layout was very nice. I especially liked the fact that the master bedroom, and what I call the 2nd master, both had great ocean views. My only other complaint is that the dishwasher seems to be low-end model. It was very noisy. We would only run it when we were going out the door as it really disturbed our enjoyment of the sound of the ocean. I had high expectations and Depoe Bay didn’t disappoint. This is a resort that we’ll return to again and again. |

Pros:

Sunset and coastal views from these condos are one-of-a-kind! This part of the Northwest Pacific is magic! You can travel 50 miles either way and have your fill of free state parks to spend the day at; trying a new one each day kept us busy the entire week! Big Mountain Coffee has great fresh roasted coffee with a view that just can't be beat and the Tidal Raves restaurant has outstanding fresh seafood with a view that you'd pay out the wazoo for if you were in the city. |

Cons:

Phase II 2 BR unit was older and a bit cramped. Balcony was small and abutted the two adjoining condos. |

There is no doubt in my mind that Depoe Bay is one of the most fantastic vacation spots in the world! This location is fabulous, high on the rocks above the Pacific Ocean...you could hardly ask for a more perfect site! Having stayed at the Camlin and at St. George, I was expecting excellent upkeep and this Phase II 2 BR unit fell short of my other experiences at Worldmark. The carpet was old and a bit worn and faded, the outside windows had seagull do-do on them, the outside electric grill didn't work, even after the repair guy tried to fix it, and the balcony was very small. I was there with my two skinny teenage neices and we barely fit around the balcony table. Additionally, we were there in June and the evenings got very warm with the setting sun coming directly into the unit and warming everything up quite a bit. Luckily the winds were cooler and helped alot to cool things a bit so it wasn't uncomfortable to go to sleep at night. Jim, the staffer who greeted us, was very friendly and helpful - though I was already very familiar with the area having stayed at an outstanding Bed and Breakfast (The Channel House) on two previous occasions. Things I did love about the place included the views and sunsets, washer and dryer...very helpful given that there were not enough racks to actually hang the beach towels on to dry them; view and sunsets, falling asleep to the sound of crashing waves, the kitchen was well stocked even with common spices which was very helpful; the beds were comfortable, even the sleeper sofa; walking to morning coffee at the Big Mountain; did I mention the views and sunsets??? |

Depot Bay is so far our favorite resort. We have been to Seaside , Or & Birch Bay, Wa. We went in January on bonus time. We did have to move to a different room with booking bonus time. So both nights we stayed we did not get the same room. The resort is wonderful! Lots to do with in a couple miles of driving or just relax & enjoy the ocean view! This is a great resort during winter or summer & storms rolling in. It is very nice, turn the couch around, have the fireplace going & spend time with family. We will for sure go back & this is our favorite by far so far! This resort is good for kids & adults! Here is a website about Depot Bay : www.depoebaychamber.org |
