Bought 2 days BT (11/18-11/19) at Dolphin Cove. Understand there used to be a Circle K across the street - no more. Try to stay away from the perimeter units - the balconies face out on to the parking areas. Interior grounds are maintained well. I had a one bedroom, 309, and it faced out on to an enclosed grassy area with a sandbox. Very quiet, even less than a block from Harbor Blvd. Disneyland is a mile walk (one way) and it was a welcome break. Check out Downtown Disney if theme parks aren't your thing. There's a House of Blues and an ESPN Zone. Usually there's live music around suppertime. For the sports nuts out there - the ESPN Zone has a 16 foot HDTV screen - electronic heaven - grab a beer at the bar and enjoy. The LA times was on my doorstep each morning. There was a continental breakfast on Friday morning and a barbecue that night. I went to the breakfast and it was all right. There's a Denny's on the corner or if you cross Orangewood and go up Harbor just past the gas station, there's a Baker's Square. Due to it's proximity to Disneyland, there are a lot of children present. |

We just returned from a week at Dolphin's Cove. After reading the reviews on it, we were very hesitant to stay there, but were happily surprised. It is definately not the nicest WM we have stayed at, but it is also not the worst. It is an older building but very clean and well maintained. The staff was friendly and helpful. We had a 3 bedroom unit which was large. The kitchen was stocked just like all other WM kitchens. My biggest complaint was that they don't have washers and dryers in the unit. There was a wait at the onsite laundry, plus they charge 75 cents to wash and 75 cents to dry. My daughter and I used the shuttle on the day that the men went to Six Flags Magic Mountain. The shuttle was $3.00 each for the entire day, as many trips as you desire. It is very convenient, (a few minutes of walking), and runs every 20 minutes. The shuttle drops you off just outside of the entrance to Disney. If you have children 10 and under, the shuttle is free. Unfortunately, we have teenagers. Parking is $9 at Disney. While at Disney, we ate at two restaurants that are worth a stop. We ate at Goofy's Kitchen for brunch which is a character buffet. The character interaction was great and food was decent. They had a large variety. My daughter loved the food. The characters they had when we were there were: Chip, Dale, Alladin, Jasmin, Goofy and Minnie. The other restaurant was the Blue Bayou which is a restaurant overlooking the Pirates of the Carribbean ride. The food was very good and the service was fantastic. The ambiance was wonderful. It is dimly lit and you can watch the people floating by. It is, however fairly expensive, so go for lunch. You need to make priority seating for this. We purchased the Southern California City Pass at Costco for $149.99 which entitled us to 3 days of parkhopping at Disney, one day at Seaworld, one day at Knotts Berry Farm and one day at either the Wild Animal Park or the San Diego Zoo. Dolphins Cove has many activities for children and adults including a free Continental breakfast on Mondays and Fridays. They have a nice pool area. The grounds are beautiful and well kept. They do not have BBQ grills on the deck, but they are available on the grounds. They have a game room. They offer clean towels on your 2nd day and they clean your unit on your 4th day. Unfortunately, our room was traffic noisy in the morning and the light came in the bedroom window. All in all, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Dolphins Cove and felt it was much better than what others have said. If you want to stay near DL, or in the Los Angeles area, this is a good place to choose. |

I spent a week at Dolphin's Cove and was not impressed. 1) I did not have a good experience with the staff. They seemed like robots with the guests, but often saw them talking animated with each other. Was told they do not have bedding for the baby beds, even though another WM owner said she got bedding with hers. Was told to wait while a front desk lady looked up information on the computer. After 5 minutes I told her "I just want to know where the video game room is." Was that so hard???? I was holding a small baby and had two small children with me at the time. The girls who supervised the video game room were NOT good with children. 2) My children complained the pool was too cold and the hot tub too hot. 3) The room was like stepping into the 1980's, peach/teal with white-washed rattan and glass furniture. The floors were so flimsy that the dining table and windows rattled when you walked across the room. The patio was too small to accomodate people sitting at the table comfortably, The kitchen was more like a tiny closet and could only hold one person, the dishwasher was ancient and barely worked, the shower had no temp control so was either boiling or freezing and nothing in betweem, the sheets and towels were ragged, and most memorable was the horrible musty smell. That is all I can recall as I have tried to block it from my memory. NOT my favorite WM location. |

We loved the location. It is a perfect starting point to do disney and other things in the area. Really liked the landscaping and feel of the outdoors. Rec room/club house was top notch |

Cons:
|
Rooms not up to WM standards. Anything larger than a mini van might be a challenge to park. |

I really liked the place and would go back if we wanted to do disney again. I would not have enjoyed it so much if we intended to spend a lot of time at the resort. It did not seem to me to be a type of place designed for rest and relaxation. The staff was great and very helpful. They were more than willing to educate you about transportation options, things to do and how to do them. We all liked the resort due to it's location. The place was clean, but a bit ran down. We really enjoyed the landscaping and the feel it gave off once you were "inside" the grounds. I would recommend others to stay there if Disney etc were the goals. If basking in the lap of luxury were your goal, try somewhere else. Doug |

I stayed at Dolphin Cove for 5 days from July 13th to July 18th. On one night I had my nephew and his nephew stay with me, just until they could get their own place to stay the next night for the weekend. I had a one bedroom. One slept on the floor because the pull-out bed from the couch was terribly uncomfortable. The teenager slept on the couch/bed, but also complained about it. I was there only 5 days out of 7, checking out early (change of plans). In that time, the maid visited twice while I was out, and left new towels and emptied the trash, which I found very nice. This is a very comfortable resort. It has parking that is behind a gate (you use your room key to get in). Only one car is allowed, and they give you a tag for it. I found the grounds signs very confusing when checking in. One sign pointed me towards Registration behind the pool, only Registration is no longer behind the pool. I made the mistake of checking out without moving my car, and could not get back to my car without the pass key! Silly me...the person behind the front desk kindly gave me a loaner so I could move the car up. The washer/dryer: I never used it, but gave up any thought of using it when every time I passed it, it was in use, even early in the morning. There are no washers within the unit. It is not terribly convenient to Disneyland even though that's why we're all there. It's about a mile away. I walked it one morning, and it took me 25 minutes to get to the shuttle parking lot in Disneyland Way. When it's hot, you don't dare do that. The Anaheim city-produced shuttle costs $3 a day, and you can buy multiple day passes in the lobby of Registration. You catch it about a half-block away. However, when you return, the shuttle drops you off a long block away, across the street, and you have to walk back. |

We had mixed feelings about reserving here, but felt the advantage of a two-bedroom, two-bath would outway a hotel. WRONG! 1st: The condo only had one-bath (we have three teenage children) and we were not told of this fact. 2nd: the unit faced a major intersection and traffic noise was tremendous. With a speed limit of 40 mph and a long straight away, we had drag racing all night long. A night without sleep makes all grouchy :) 3rd: the kitchen lacked any spoons, smelled of mold, had beer cans in the garbage, and something plastic melted to the bottom of the diswasher that left marks on the dishes. We were supposed to stay 3 nights but called area hotels and moved to a hotel the next day. At least it smelled better and was quieter than the Dolphins Cove. If staying you need to request a room away from Orangewood Ave...there are eight units that face the street and we were just one of the unlucky ones to get one. The Knutzens, Windsor, Seattle, Leavenworth, Seaside, Long Beach, Ocean Shores, Birch Bay, Daytona Beach, Orlando, Victoria B.C., Dolphins Cove |

After reading the reviews for Dolphin Cove, I didn't have high expectations for the resort. I had reserved a one bedroom with credits and rented a two bedroom/one bath from another owner for six nights. The one bedroom was pieced together in such a way that I would've to change rooms three times. When I arrived at the front desk, the woman there was very friendly and helpful. She took it upon herself to arrange my reservations so that we were able to stay in the same room for the entire time. It took me by surprise that she was so helpful. She knew I was a WM owner because I gave her my confirmation letter. My two bedroom was pretty small and dark. I tried the sofa bed and it had a tendency to roll toward the middle of the mattress. There were stains on the carpet. The bathroom reminded me of a cheap motel, but there were complimentary shampoo, conditioner and lotion. The sink and tub were in the same room. The one bedroom's bathroom was better. It had the sink with more counter space and was sectioned off from the toilet and tub. The room served it's purpose. We got up early in the morning to hit the theme parks and come back late in the evening to sleep. The small kitchen had salt and pepper shaker. Coffee, Lipton tea, suger, filter, detergent for the dishes, couple of packets of powder detergent for the dishwasher, hamper and a box of Tide were supplied. We were in 632 about two buildings from the laundry room. Even though we had to take our dirty laundry to a different building, at least the washer/dryer were big loaders and it was free. We didn't have time to check on the pool or spa. But as I was checking in, a mother came in and notified the front desk that a kid just threw up in it. Hearing that I had no interest in using the pool. I would recommend driving to Disneyland. After a long day at Disney, it's four long blocks to get back. I think Ladycody was correct that Dolphin Cove is trying to improve their resort and service. I called the front desk for some clean towels and linen because my little girl spilled some drink on the bedsheet. They said housekeeping doesn't come in yet until 8:00am or 9:00am. I can't remember. So I asked them if they can just drop the items off in my room while we are away. They said all right. So here I am returning with my family at 12:00 midnight and the stack of dirty towels and linen was still sitting there and no new towels. The front desk left a voice mail at 3:00pm asking if the housekeeper had come by. Of course, I couldn't answer that since we were at Disneyland all day. But this shows that they were trying to make sure things were getting done. After I checked out and was on my way to Oceanside, I realized that I forgot my coat containing my wallet and two phone charges. The housekeeping for Dolphin Cove already went home. Next day, I called and fortunately for me, they had my coat and wallet. I was able to finish my trip at Oceanside and on my way back to San Francisco, I stopped by Dolphin Cove and picked up my items. |
