Additional unit description provided by LLW in a forum post:
In my opinion, the units costing the fewest points at Discovery Bay are the best: the regular 2BRs, including A & B, because they are ALL on the water and facing mountains. These sleep 6. They are also the hardest to book - there are only 7 of them.
There are 32 2BR Pluses and 6 of them are on the water, so you never know if you will get one. These sleep 8.
There are 6 each of Special Needs and Deluxe units. The Deluxes are on top of the Special Needs. They are either in the middle group of buildings, or up on the hill. These are all end units. They each sleep 6.
All of the units at DB have a decent to great view. I have never been in a Special Needs unit, so I don't know what that layout is like.
The layout of the 2BR Plus and regular 2BRs are similar: mid-level entry, 5 levels, master in the basement (with a jetted tub out in the open, and a private deck), living area (sofa bed in the living room) and kitchen up one flight of stairs from the entry, main bathroom on the next level, second BR on the top. The Plus has an extra landing between the main bath and the second BR for a sofa bed. There are twin beds in the second bedroom except for Unit 39, where there is a Queen, that I know of.
The layout of the Deluxe is very different from the others. Because it is on top of the one-level Special Needs, yet has 2 levels, it has a lot of space. In fact, some would say there is too much space for the furniture. The first level is the living area, kitchen, and the second bedroom. There is a Murphy bed that can be put down without moving ANY furniture. There is a lot of counter and cupboard space in the kitchen. There is a lot of space surrounding the dining table. The living room furniture is not much different from the regular units. The second bedroom is also on this level and has a Queen bed and a TV. The second level is the huge master bedroom, with a huge open jetted tub.
All of the master bedrooms have a TV and an armchair to watch the TV with.
The waters are usually very calm and peaceful. Also, the game and pool areas are away from most of the units. (The pool is quite small.) So it is usually very quiet around the units. There is a nice dock to walk on. The on-site restaurant is closed and for sale.
