I keep getting cards as well as calls from multiple outfits all over the country offering to rent and/or sell my timeshare.

Everytime I see "Timeshare" on my called ID, I figured they were trying to buy it off of me. I would pick up the phone, and then wait the 4-5 seconds for the "caller" to answer, and then immediately say "I'm not selling my timeshare" and then hang up.

It never occurred to me that these people might be trying to rent it for me. Interesting. I've received about 4-5 calls like this in the past few months.

Yes, I have also received phone calls. The most disturbing part of the calls are that some calls are to my cell phone number. How did they get my cell phone number?

We got one today to my husband's cell phone. We have the same question--not many people have my husband's cell phone number.

The person who called was Sean Michaels @ 1-877-338-8113 x 2013. (Just in case anyone wants to call him. ROFL! )

All the time and a couple more last week who left messages. If I speak to someone and ask how they got our name and number they all say "from the National Timeshare Database, it's public record." I'm going to start keeping track of the number of calls and the number they are calling from.

Kathy

Hmmmmm.
Past employment: Sales at Wyndham Vacation Ownership (3 years)
So you think he maybe took an owner list with him?

Because we don't have deeded weeks, it's not a matter of "public record." If it's because we're all in a national TS db, then they got that info from Wyn, or somebody else that Wyn gave the list to. Does ARDA have our info? I have to wonder.

I believe ARDA does...not positive, and I would suggest that a former employee leaking the info is the most plausible likelihood for how owners have been getting so many calls of late.

This is actually more than just opinion.

In an unlawful termination/discrimination lawsuit filed by a former project director (multi-office sales manager) against WYN, a similar claim is made. That at a certain office, sales people were passing buyer info to well-known reseller.

To the extent that WYN analyzed a list of buyers that rescinded and later became WM members.

I know a person who bought a list from Wyndham for their specific geographical location to try and start a resell business, it did not work out, but they got the list.

Just got a call from these guys:

paradise-exchange dot com

They asked if I was interested in selling or renting my points because they have a "company" interested in buying a lot of points. I suggested if the price was right, I'd be interested in renting out my points (I'm in grad school right now, so I don't have time to use my WM credits). They then transferred me to someone else who said they would process it for just "nine ninety five," which is assume is $995, not $9.95. They said it was refundable if the rental doesn't go through. Why wouldn't it go through if a "company" wants all these points? What a scammer. I told them I'm NOT paying anything up front and to email me the contract.

They're supposed to call me tomorrow to reconfirm, but thanks to this awesome forum I'm going to tell them to go away and put me on the do-not call list.
