Often times when looking over the inventory, you will look 13 months out and see that the first few days of the reservation you would like to book are already taken. This is frustrating to many owners, and on the old WM4M there were many posts asking WHY this keeps happening.
The answer is simply, these days are tied to a reservation that begins earlier than 13 months out.
For example, let's say I wanted to go to Cabo San Lucas out of LAX. Every day you check at 13 months out and the first few days of each week are already taken. You have four choices to book the vacation:
- Call the VPC and book the vacation starting with a few extra days in the Los Angeles area (maybe a trip to Disneyland or the beach) and then add the week in Cabo
- Call the VPC and book a few days in the least expensive unit you can find (check the tools for resorts with blue weeks - white weeks (coming soon) and add the week in Cabo to these "throw away" days.
- Call the VPC and book a few days for a friend / family member to enjoy, adding the week in Cabo to these days.
- Call the VPC and book days you feel you might be able to rent (feeling comfortable losing these days if no one takes them) and add the week in Cabo.
By adding the days leading into the 13 month period, you can get a "jump" on the 13 month window and hopefully book the days you would like without having to sign up on the waitlist. Do not worry too much if something happens and you are not able to secure the exact dates for your reservation - the waitlist does work as 30% of all reservations cancel. Book the days you can, waitlist for the remaining days, and search for options just in case things don't work out. There is always a way to get that vacation!
